Questions, answered

The honest details.

Why is the price a range?

Every business needs something a little different. A simple one-page site may be $300, while a larger informational site may be closer to $500. You receive one fixed quote before work begins.

What does the monthly payment cover?

Your $25–$50 monthly care plan covers hosting, the security certificate, backups, uptime and form checks, plus repairs if a technical problem appears. New pages and larger content changes are quoted separately.

Do you guarantee Google rankings?

No honest provider can promise a particular ranking. We build the website with strong search basics and make sure it is clear, fast, mobile-friendly, and easy for search engines to understand.

Will I own my website?

Yes. Your agreement will clearly explain ownership and what happens if you end the monthly care plan. Your domain and important business accounts should always remain in your name.

What happens if I cancel monthly care?

You can cancel through the secure client portal at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current paid month. Your website remains live through that date, and we will help you transfer a copy to another host or take it offline. A safety backup is kept for 30 days after service ends.

Read the complete Website Design, Hosting and Care Agreement

1. Project and services

The Client hires Main Street Web Co. (the Provider) to design and build the website described in the approved written quote or package summary. The Provider will perform the work professionally and communicate material delays or changes in scope.

The $300 starter package includes a small-business informational website of up to five pages, responsive design, a contact or quote-request layout, basic on-page search setup, one organized revision round, a private preview, and launch assistance. Any separate written quote accepted by both parties controls if it describes a different scope or price.

2. Fees and payment

For the starter package, the website-build fee is $300 and the monthly website-care fee is $50. The build fee is due when this agreement is accepted. Monthly care begins on the Stripe checkout date and renews each month until canceled.

The Client authorizes Stripe to charge the payment method supplied at checkout for the recurring monthly fee. After work begins, the build fee is nonrefundable except for any unearned amount the Provider agrees to refund if the Provider ends the project without delivering the work.

If payment fails, the Provider may pause care or hosting after providing at least seven days of written notice and a reasonable opportunity to update the payment method. Applicable taxes, domain registration, premium software, stock assets, and third-party services are not included unless stated in writing.

3. Client responsibilities

The Client will provide accurate business information, text, logos, images, account access, and decisions reasonably needed for the project; confirm that supplied materials may legally be used; review previews promptly; and review public claims, prices, policies, accessibility needs, privacy disclosures, and legal notices before launch.

The Client should keep the domain registration and important business accounts in the Client’s name. Delays caused by missing materials, approvals, or access may move the target launch date. The Provider is not responsible for errors in information the Client supplies or approves.

4. Revisions and additional work

The build fee includes only the revision rounds and features in the approved scope. New pages, major rewrites, redesigns, advanced search campaigns, ecommerce, booking systems, custom applications, photography, and ongoing content updates are additional work unless expressly included.

The Provider will describe additional work and its price before beginning it. Email approval is sufficient for a change request, and approved additions may change the launch date.

5. Launch, acceptance, and ownership

The Client will review the final preview and either approve launch or provide a written list of agreed corrections. The website is accepted when the Client approves it in writing, launches it, uses it publicly, or does not report a material failure to match the approved scope within seven days after final delivery.

For fourteen days after launch, the Provider will correct reproducible technical defects in the delivered work at no additional charge. This does not include new content, new features, third-party changes, or issues caused by the Client or another provider.

After all project invoices are paid, the Client owns the final website text, graphics, and custom code created specifically for the Client. The Provider retains ownership of general methods, reusable components, templates, know-how, and tools not created exclusively for the Client, while granting the Client a continuing license to use any such materials included in the delivered website. Third-party materials remain subject to their own licenses.

6. Monthly website care

While the care plan is active and paid, it includes website hosting, a standard security certificate, reasonable uptime monitoring, periodic checks of agreed contact forms, website-file backups under the Provider’s normal process, repair of technical problems caused by the Provider’s hosting environment or delivered code, and reasonable communication about service issues.

Monthly care does not include new pages, major content changes, redesigns, search-ranking campaigns, business email, domain-renewal fees, ecommerce support, or repairs caused by the Client, another provider, or an unsupported third-party service unless added in writing.

7. Cancellation and website handoff

The care plan renews one month at a time. Either party may cancel at any time. The Client may cancel through the Stripe client portal or by written notice. A Client cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid billing period, and no later monthly care charge will be due.

The Provider will keep the website live through the end of the paid period unless continued operation creates a security, legal, or payment risk. Canceling monthly care does not erase the website and does not refund the one-time build fee.

Before the paid period ends, the Client may choose a downloadable copy for transfer to another host, request a separately priced hosting arrangement, or allow the Provider-hosted site to go offline. If the Client does not choose, the Provider may take the hosted site offline after the paid period ends.

After all amounts are paid, the Provider will supply an available export within ten business days and include up to one hour of reasonable handoff assistance. Third-party migration costs and additional work require a separate quote. The Provider will not cancel or claim ownership of a Client-owned domain and will keep one safety backup for thirty days after care ends before Provider-held copies may be deleted.

8. Suspension, third parties, and security

Either party may end the build project for a material breach that is not corrected within ten days after written notice. The Provider may suspend access or service sooner when reasonably necessary to address unlawful content, security threats, fraud, or nonpayment.

The Provider will use reasonable care but does not promise uninterrupted service, a particular search ranking, a specific number of leads or revenue, or continued compatibility with every browser, device, or third-party service. Search engines, hosts, payment processors, and other platforms may change outside the Provider’s control.

Each party will use reasonable care to protect nonpublic business information. No internet service is completely secure, and the Provider does not guarantee that the website will never experience an outage, attack, data loss, or unauthorized access.

9. Liability and Client materials

To the fullest extent permitted by law, neither party is liable to the other for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages such as lost profits or opportunities. The Provider’s total liability arising from this agreement will not exceed the website-build fee plus monthly care fees paid during the three months before the event giving rise to the claim. This limit does not apply where prohibited by law or to fraud, willful misconduct, or a party’s obligation to pay amounts due.

The Client will protect and reimburse the Provider from third-party claims arising from materials, instructions, or business practices supplied or directed by the Client, including claims that Client content infringes another person’s rights, except to the extent caused by Provider misconduct.

10. General terms and electronic acceptance

The parties are independent contractors. Routine approvals and notices may be sent by email. New York law governs this agreement, and the parties consent to state or federal courts located in Broome County, New York, unless they agree to another resolution method in writing.

This agreement and any accepted written project addendum are the complete agreement. Changes must be in writing and accepted by both parties. If one provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue. Neither party is responsible for delay caused by events beyond reasonable control.

By checking the agreement box and selecting “Agree and continue to Stripe,” the Client confirms that the entered legal name is accurate, that the Client is authorized to bind the named business, that the Client has reviewed these terms, and that the Client intends the electronic acceptance to serve as a signature.
